About us

The Ensemble Gospel de Québec (EGQ) is an entertaining and dynamic group of 25 singers and 4 musicians that are gospel pioneers in Quebec City. They are experienced performers who regularly take part in a wide range of public, fund-raising and corporate events. Since its beginnings in 1995, the EGQ has been able to show its passion for a musical style both here in Quebec and abroad.

Inspired by beautiful vocal harmonies, thrilling rhythms, universal messages and the energizing effect of gospel, EGQ members have had the opportunity to be ambassadors for Québec at prestigious venues such as:

• The Concert Gala of Quebec City Sacred Music Festival with the Westchester Interdenominational Fellowship Choir of New York;

• The closing performance at the Rendez-vous Gospel de Montréal with special guests such as Johanne Blouin and Elizabeth Blouin Brathwaite;

• The opening act for the Festival de Jazz Etcetera of Lévis;

• The Festival de Jazz entre les Deux Tours of La Rochelle in France;

• The inaugural show for the Special Olympics Winter Games on the Plaines d'Abraham;

• The Maximum Blues Festival of Carleton;

• The Festival du Lac Massawippi in North Hatley.

The EGQ already has three albums under its belt. The latest one called "Christmas Spirit" was launched in December, 2012 and contains classic and contemporary Christmas gospel songs.

2010 was the year the album "Show Me" was issued and contained both original songs and interpretations of essential gospel numbers. The album demonstrates the influences that have shaped the EGQ over the past few years, including urban gospel and original songs, like "Show Me".

The group released its first album, "Chants de Coton" (Cotton Songs), in March 2003.

During each of its performances, the EGQ offers you a trip through the vast gospel universe. Let yourself be entertained and moved by this group of passionate gospel singers that want no more than offer you their best.
